The Babe’s Chicken Dinner House in Granbury opened on June 18, 2007.
The building was constructed around 1917 and originally sold Ford Model Ts. It was also the first auto dealer in Granbury – in fact, the hydraulic lift used to work on those Model Ts, was found buried in the alley.
At some point in the building’s past, it began to fall down. A new roof was added along with the columns running the length of both walls, which also are tied to the outside walls to keep the structure together. The cedar columns you see actually have metal columns running up the centers of them.
We have some additional tidbits to share when you’re sittin’ in the dining room – just ask to see our Babe’s Facts while you’re finishing up your salad.
