About Babe's Chicken in Granbury

Well, bless your heart and welcome to our Babe’s Chicken Dinner House in Granbury! We’ve been servin’ up comfort food that’ll make you happier than a tornado in a trailer park since we opened on June 18, 2007 – and honey, this old building’s got more history than a small town gossip!

This beautiful place has been keepin’ busy since around 1917, when it first opened its doors sellin’ those newfangled Ford Model Ts. Can you picture that? This was Granbury’s very first automobile dealership – folks probably thought those horseless carriages were about as likely to catch on as snow in July! Well, wouldn’t you know it, when we were fixin’ up the place, we found the original hydraulic lift buried right out there in the alley – the very same lift they used to hoist up those Model Ts for repairs. Now that’s what I call buried treasure!

Now, I’ve got to tell y’all, this old gal had seen better days by the time we got our hands on her. The poor thing was fixin’ to fall down like a house of cards in a windstorm! But we weren’t about to let all that history crumble away, no sir. We put on a brand-new roof and added those sturdy columns you see runnin’ the length of both walls. Those columns aren’t just for show, sugar – they’re tied right into the outside walls to keep this whole structure standin’ proud and strong. And here’s somethin’ clever: those beautiful cedar columns you’re admirin’? Well, they’ve got metal columns runnin’ right up through their centers, hidden neat as a pin. Pretty and practical – just like we like it!

We’ve got more tales than you can shake a stick at brewin’ in the kitchen, so don’t be shy about askin’ your server for our Babe’s Facts while you’re enjoyin’ that honeymoon salad. Good stories and good eatin’ – that’s how we roll in Granbury!
