About Babe's Chicken in Frisco

Well, howdy y’all! Welcome to our Babe’s Chicken Dinner House in Frisco, where, since July 14, 2008, we’ve been servin’ up home-style cookin’ that’ll stick to your ribs – and honey, we’ve got some real treasures out front that’ll make any history buff happier than a pig in mud!

Now, before you even mosey on inside, take yourself a gander at that beautiful Hart Parr Tractor sittin’ proud as punch out front. That big ol’ beauty weighs in at 6,100 pounds and hails from the 1920s – she’s what they call an 18-36 model, meanin’ she’s got 18 horsepower at the drawbar and 36 at the flywheel. Talk about muscle! That engine’s a two-cylinder setup mounted horizontal-like, and get this – she’ll run on gasoline, kerosene, or distillate. Now that’s what I call versatile! You might notice she’s missin’ those metal lugs on her wheels that most farm tractors have, and there’s a good reason for that, sugar. This gal was used for custom threshin’ and had to travel over public roads, and those lugs would’ve torn up the pavement somethin’ fierce!

Now don’t you dare miss that pole barn out front – inside you’ll find a real gem, a 1940 Simms Ford Fire Truck that’s prettier than a sunset over the prairie! She started life as a Ford 1-1/2 ton chassis before the fine folks at Simms Fire Equipment Company down in San Antonio worked their magic on her. This beautiful lady spent her whole career protectin’ the good people of Coleman, Texas, and fought her last fire around 1998 – now that’s faithful service! See that center-mounted “Akro” light? Well, that’s rarer than a four-leaf clover – it spins back and forth while it lights up, puttin’ on quite the show! All that gorgeous gold leaf work ain’t just for show neither – back in the day, a town’s fire engine was a real source of pride, and they wanted everyone to know they had the finest equipment money could buy!

We’ve got more stories than you can shake a stick at, so don’t be bashful about askin’ your server for our Babe’s Facts while you’re enjoyin’ that salad of yours! Good food, good history, and good company – that’s the Texas way!
